WD-40 may be used as a penetrant
to free nuts and bolts on exhaust systems, brake assemblies and any other
parts that have become seized through rust or lack of attention. It will
coat all parts with a thin protective film that will serve to lubricate
all these assemblies during future operation. The ignition circuit, distributor
and coil may be sprayed with WD-40 to remove water from engines that have
become wet through flooding or condensation. The whole of the auto electrical
circuit will benefit from a regular maintenance spray of WD-40. It will
keep it free of corrosion and will prevent the formation of electrolytic
deposits thus ensuring 100% conductivity at all times. When sprayed into
car locks, it will remove dirt and dust and disperse any moisture preventing
them from freezing in winter and ensuring trouble free functioning throughout
the year. A regular wipe over with WD-40 will prevent corrosion on radio
aerials and chrome trims.

All types of switches, whether hand
or automatically operated, require a lubrication of some description at
some time during their working life. This field is narrowed when consideration
is given to viscosity, anti-static properties, non-conductivity, dust attraction
and eventual penetration of localities where no lubrication should be permitted.
WD-40 may be safely applied in any location. Not only will it lubricate
and ease sticky mechanisms but it will promote conductivity on contact
faces and mechanical connections.
WD-40 cleans and maintains many
things around the home – locks, door hinges, curtain track, sewing machines
and tools. It helps loosen limescale from taps and bathroom fittings, removes
marks and scuffs from paint work and non porous surfaces and can be used
to prolong the life of indoor and outdoor toys.
Sub-assemblies often have to be
stored under adverse conditions which can render them unusable. A protective
coating of WD-40 will thoroughly dry and protect all parts from rust and
chemical corrosion during storage. Precision machines and assemblies on
the shop floor can be maintained in perfect working order with a regular
spray of WD-40. Injection moulding machines may be kept free of corrosion
and provide excellent mould release with a light application of WD-40.
Packing and dispatch departments may use WD-40 to ensure the manufacturer’s
goods reach their destination in perfect order without the need for heavy
greasing.
As a product developed in the course
of space research, WD-40 is today used in all aspects of the aviation industry.
Undercarriage gear, wheel copmartments and emergency generators may all
be treated with WD-40 during the general maintenance of the aircraft, to
prevent the formation o corrosion and deposits. Electrics and costly radar
equipment will also benefit from regular use of this product, preventing
breakdown due to moisture intrusion. Regular use of WD-40 on all parts
of the craft will ensure that when the necessity arises for strip down
and servicing, parts are not corroded or welded together. This results
in an obvious saving of man hours and tooling costs.
A quick spray of WD-40 over fittings,
winches and power units before laying up for an long period will ensure
that all systems ‘go’ when the need arises. Wet inboard and outboard motors
will spring to life immediately when sprayed with WD-40. The film of WD-40
will not affect the paint or lacquer work in any way and it may be freely
applied to ships ‘radio’ radar or sonar equipment to keep it free of corrosion
whilst at sea.
WD-40 protects spreaders, sprayers
and other farm equipment from the detrimental effects of fertilizers and
pesticides. It will help prevent the build up of rust on outdoor machinery,
lubricate and protect chain driven machinery and as it contains no silicone,
it will not attract grit, dirt or dust.
WD-40 will protect all type of sporting
equipment including ski bindings, fiching reels, bikes and is also invaluable
for camping equipment.
WD-40 can be used on the working
mechanisms of typewriters, printers, photocopiers and various other office
equipment. It also stops doors hinges, swivel chairs and drawers from squeaking.
WD-40 can be used on rifles, pistols
and all type of guns to ensure that all moving parts are lubricated and
to prevent moisture from entering the grain of the metal. It can be used
to clean away gunpowder deposits and because it does not attract dirt and
dust, it can be relied upon not to congeal after long period of inactivity.
